Animals on Nenmar
frennil—A small creature which appears similar to a tiny fox. A vegetarian, it lives mostly on the higher ground where sliffut grows. Being as small as they are, frennils are no threat to the sliffut food supply, and most people welcome their presence, as they are good at finding hidden wild sliffut fields.
lennar—A small animal which appears to be a cross between a squirrel and a rabbit. It lives in the dryer upper levels, and feeds on sliffut. Lennars are not competitors with people for sliffut, as they do not consume that much of it. They also are a benefit to sliffut harvesters, as they too help find new wild sliffut fields. Lennars are the closest thing Nenmarans have to family pets—although they are wild animals, they commonly go into people's houses and seem as though they are part of the family.
meffen—The closest thing to a fish on Nenmar, these creatures have the underwater world mostly to themselves. They live and breathe in the water, and feed on underwater mallof and luffel at the water's edge.
rillen—A small creature which appears similar to a ground hog, but with characteristic Nenmaran large eyes and no tail. They are found mostly in low lying areas where there is abundant luffel for them to feed on—the luffel vines also provide rillens some cover from the pellims that prey on them.
pellim—A large wild boar type of creature, living primarily in the fimmen forests. The carnivorous pellims feed primarily on rillens, and any frennils that wander into the forest. Usually a solitary animal, pellims sometimes are found in mated pairs—they have been known to attack people if they feel provoked or are especially hungry, but they rarely attack groups of three or more people. They have beautiful thick red orange fur.
pellar—A mutation of a pellim, which Kaggla synthesized into a domestic animal. Pellars are kept for their fur, which people shear from them like sheep—pellar fur and the fabric made from it is very valuable. A pellar can kill a pellim.
